🖤 Positive Black Network Spotlight

Julia Esaw, a proud member of Cass Tech’s Class of 1939, made history—again—at age 104.

This remarkable moment came as she returned to her alma mater to receive the Distinguished Alumni Award, a recognition decade in the making. Esaw’s journey is one of courage, trailblazing resilience, and quiet power. As one of only six Black students in her graduating class, she faced overt discrimination and isolation—but never backed down.

A Living Legacy

In the halls where she once endured adversity, Esaw was celebrated by a new generation of scholars, many of whom now walk those same halls with more opportunity, more voice, and more pride, thanks to pioneers like her.

Her story is a reminder that:

  • Progress is possible because of those who came before.

  • Legacy isn’t just about what you do—it’s about who you uplift.

  • Age doesn't limit impact—purpose sustains it.

🌟 A Message for Today’s Generation

Julia Esaw’s return to Cass Tech wasn’t just ceremonial—it was symbolic. It told every student in the room:

“Honor your roots. Rise above your challenges. Carry the legacy forward.”

She is living proof that Black excellence doesn’t expire—it evolves, inspires, and endures.

Positive Black Network honors Julia Esaw for her strength, her service, and the generations she’s inspired.
