Double the Brilliance: Atlanta Great Debaters Make History at Harvard

  07/30/2025

The Atlanta Great Debaters have done it again—winning the prestigious Harvard debate championship for the third year in a row!

Competing virtually against top students from around the globe, the team delivered a stellar performance that reflects not just skill, but legacy.

Two standout debaters made history:

  • Madison Webb became the first Black female student to win the Harvard debate championship.

  • Christian Flournoy became the youngest Black male student to claim the title.

According to 11 Alive, the Harvard Diversity Project—a transformative initiative that recruits and trains exceptional Black youth from Metro Atlanta—continues to introduce these students to academic debate, many for the first time.

With confidence, brilliance, and unmatched preparation, these young scholars are not just winning trophies—they’re redefining the narrative of Black academic excellence.

“We are not just participants in elite spaces. We are champions, leaders, and change-makers.” – Harvard Diversity Project

👏 Salute to the Atlanta Great Debaters for raising the bar once again. Excellence isn’t just what they do—it’s who they are.
