Historically, white people have dominated the banking industry in the United States. However, the Utah-based First Security Bank of Utah has been bought by a black-owned company for the first time in history. This is an interesting development in the banking industry. This blog will provide some background on this story and what caused it to happen.

A group of Black investors led by Dr. Bernice A. King and Ashley D. Bell are purchasing Holladay Bank & Trust located near Salt Lake City, Utah. They are making history as the first Black American investors to ever buy a bank that was formally white owned. Once the sale is finalized, it will be the only Black-owned bank west of Texas.
