Black Men Lock Arms Around Tyre Nichols
01/30/2023
With protests and outcry over the Tyre Nichols beating and death, we’d like to bring to your attention a powerful move of solidarity by Black Men.
During the Sunday morning worship service on Sunday, Jan. 29, Pastor Wilbur T. Purvis III of Destiny World Church located in Austell, GA (15 minutes west of Atlanta) asked all of the men to stand in the church.
He interrupted the church service and asked the men to leave their seats to form a circle around the perimeter of the sanctuary, and lock arms in support of Tyre Nichols, and Black men everywhere. Nearly 200 men locked arms, they also included their male babies and male children.
The men recited a Brotherhood Creed. And it was a powerful, positive moment!
